International Baccalaureate (IB)

CIEDI’s Authentic IB Programs

Since its inception it has been recognized as one of the best schools in Bogotá, being a pioneer in the implementation of the International Baccalaureate programs in 2006, it is currently one of the 12 schools that have the certification of the three IB programs in Colombia.

At CIEDI we strongly identify with the International Baccalaureate Programs and strive to deliver learning experiences that stimulate our students’ development as culturally sensitive lifelong learners.  Activities that build enquiring mindsets and foster our student’s desire to learn taking them beyond the classroom to make connections to the real world.

Our belief in the IB philosophy leads to a passionate implementation of authentic IB programs in each section of the school as evidenced by a range of activities such as:

  • High school students coopting preschoolers to test the prototypes for the toys they are developing in Design class.
  • PYP students exchanging ideas via virtual networks with our partner schools in the USA.
  • Primary students absorbing the language of learning and practicing metacognitive skills through visible thinking routines.

  • Students from Preschool, Primary and Secondary School visiting the Escuela de Ingeniería to explore concepts for their integrated STEM units.
  • Students collaborating with international peers in “X-Culture” teams to solve real-life commercial problems.
  • Students of all ages in their integration hour working together to construct intrapersonal and social skills to improve our community.
  • High schoolers designing and constructing their own geodesic dome to serve as a greenhouse for future sustainable science investigations.
  • Students participating in planning and leading their own learning inquiries.

At CIEDI students are guided yet also trusted to develop their own student led inquiries as their culminating projects for each program of the IB programs (the PYP Exhibition, the MYP Personal Project, and the DP Extended Essay).
