Established in 1977, Colegio Internacional de Educacion Integral (CIEDI) was founded on the principle that effective teaching must encompass the cognitive, physical and emotional needs of a child. Set up by its current CEO, Mrs. Clara Gutierrez, as an independent private school, it has maintained the belief behind the ideas and actions of its founder for 36 years. Located in the northern outskirts of the Colombian capital, Bogotá, the school is surrounded by lush greenery. CIEDI is a bilingual school offering a curriculum taught both in Spanish (40%) and English (60%), with French taught as a foreign language. It is a well-supplied school dedicated to providing a strong foundation for life-long learning within a safe, happy and secure environment, where every child receives an individually-guided education.

The curriculum complements the school’s vision as outlined by Executive Director David Palacios; CIEDI is dedicated to provide high quality international standardized education by means of individualized guided instruction; where every student has a name.    Striving for educational excellence

 

  With CIEDI’s clear statement of values, the school sought a partner sharing the same educational beliefs to help realize its mission and in 2003, the International Baccalaureate crossed CIEDI’s path, an organization sharing the school’s ideals which provided a route to broader horizons and a wider international perspective. The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools. The IB has three programs for students ages 3 - 19 which are designed to develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills necessary for living and working in today’s global world.

 

    Younger pupils aged 3 - 12 follow the Primary Years Program (PYP) which focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and the world outside. The 11 - 16 group takes the Middle Years Program (MYP), which provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills through embracing and transcending traditional school subjects. The Diploma Program for students ages 16 - 19 is a demanding two-year curriculum that meets the needs of highly motivated students, and leads to a qualification that is recognized by leading universities around the world. It is noteworthy that CIEDI is one of just 156 schools worldwide that offers all three IB programs.

 

In its continuous search for quality, and recognizing the need to follow international standards, the school adopted the philosophy of total quality and enrolled in the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), achieving certification for first access level in 2008. By such means, CIEDI demonstrates its continuing commitment to building on its educational excellence.
